Landscape is bloody gorgeous up north.

Here is my inadequate doodle response. The two squiggles are cows from a very long distance, and I got distracted while drawing the wall bit.

So I found an old pad of squared paper with some really old doodle in that I totally can't remember drawing but I know that they were definitely drawn by me, not really sure when exactly. The writing in the doodle above says 'Handlebar mustaches are always amusing! I am in love with you <3 yes, you! I love everyone and no one, especially you (and Marvin the flying sheep)' and the monster's little thought bubble says '...I love Marvin the flying sheep'

This one's a crying flaming heart plant thing.

I think this one is part dragon, part concertina slash clockwork orange enthusiast. I imagine its arm plays jolly sea-shanties.

Blood Demon Anybody?

Since my last post was looking a bit too girly and full of adorable, I guess it only makes sense to finish posting today with another scary doodle that I did over the weekend.

She likes to turn into blood, force her way inside her victim's mouth and drain all their blood from the inside out in order to strengthen her powers. She starts out looking like a skinny little girl with long shiny black hair and a weird mask and eventually devolves into a seeping puddle trying to get beneath the crack at the bottom of your door.

Also, she's holding an apple today. Isn't that nice?

YOU MUST TELL US

Made my old JSA agreement into a nice collage drawing of a leaf :) tis a bit highschool-ish standards but at least all that crappy paperwork became useful. 

Most of the pages I used are recent improvements that mean that if you leave a job voluntarily then you will not be able to claim job seekers allowance, which I think is quite unfair because that job could be making somebody really miserable and mentally unwell or they could be being bullied. That means that the UK government will penalise those people into feeling like they have to keep that job no matter what the cost. 

Also you are meant to inform the DWP if you ever decide to stay away from home, even just for a day, because there's no way you can look for work and visit friends at the same time (le sarcasm). That is why the title is 'you must tell us'.

I am grateful for the help provided to me by the government, and I am lucky in some ways that because I have doctor-legittemised mental health problems, I was exempt from a lot of of the rules because the only thing worse than claiming JSA is dropping JSA for disability benefits in their eyes I guess. I just wish there was a more empowering way to help people find work and support individuals when their income hits the shitter.

Work with Lorraine!

Here is a doodle I roughly copied and coloured in with acrylics from historical painter Hieronymus Bosch whose work I am much in love with these days.

It marks the start of a joint collaboration project with Lorraine Bennet, not entirely sure where that will lead us but I think we both agree on it being an awesome idea. We both wanted to do something mythical and mystical but have super different approaches so I am excited to see the way different artistic disciplines can work together and the hopefully complementary outcomes that will be our result. Currently meeting up for thursdays sketching and doodling ideas stage. Next week is going to be collages, so watch this space.

Like a Tea-tray in the Sky

Some kind of bizarre doodle of a teapot from 5am the while the boyfriend was keeping me awake and I had forgotten my damn earplugs. Was probably thinking of this:

I also made several other stupid teapot designs with a playing-card colour scheme. Fucking disney disturbing my sleep again.

Just your friendly neighbourhood gargoyle

Find myself more and more fascinated by the bizarre creatures you find on old churches and the like. I like to think of them as a gateway between reality and fantasy, an echo back to pre-christian britain, where all the really good stories come from. Plus they keep all that pesky rainwater off the damn roof!Sketch done with biro, pencil, sharpie, washable felt-tips and collage.

From when me and the boyfriend had a picnic at Birmingham Cathedral. We sat in the sunshine and I drew this with felt-tips and biro. Feeling the colour green at the moment.

This is where my evil lair is situated

This is this first painting I did after two years of being at uni doing an art degree. It's the back of my house painted from the back yard. It looks a bit grim, but it was a fresh sunny day and it made me feel good to finally be doing something.
