New 'folio page to co-incide with the bird canvas I did (on the right). Once again, woeful photo-taking efforts from my webcam but I'm quite chuffed with the layout so far.

Finished Bird Canvas

That's it folks, first ever canvas completed, and I'm pretty happy with the results. It's simple, bright, experimental use of materials, combined with a more traditional-looking drawing styles, designed to cheer up my grandmother's (sorta dingy-looking) bungalow.
fake feathers, buttons and ribbons stitched onto canvas (18" by 14") with acrylics, oil pastels, fineliner and pencil

Canvas update

-Decided to add buttons into the canvas to tie in with the arts and crafts DIY feel of the painting. Plus, buttons are cute ^_^
-Added some oil pastels over the acrylics to create a more vibrant contrast and although you can't see it in the photo, I have stitched into some of the wings and profile of the bird on the top half of the canvas (apparently it's a canary?).

Definitely coming together, all excited because this will be the first ever completely self-directed project I have finished.

Moar Bird

Very first version of bird canvas. Needs more detail highlighting and the second bird colouring in...and then lots of feathers and stitching ^_^ yay!

issa bird!

Drew this bad boy off and on during a night where I may have imbibed three beers, tequila, vodka and orange juice, two glasses of cava, two rum and cokes, and more glasses of sangria than I could remember to count. Coloured it in while hungover. Was probably thinking of a combination of these two birdies from Amerton:

Roosting, and other roostery activities

Looking through some old photos of birds I took at Amerton Farm for another canvas idea. Have a look at this little guy though, if I was ever going to attempt to hug a chicken, I think it'd be this one. <3
